Selling a junk or broken Jaguar E-Pace
The 2018 E-Pace, its first year in EPA data, holds 14 of the 27 complaints owners have filed about the model with NHTSA. The engine is the component named most: 11 complaints across all years, 6 of them on the 2018. Later E-Pace years have been on sale for a shorter stretch, so they have had fewer chances to gather filings.

Where it came from
Wikipedia lists the E-Pace as a subcompact luxury crossover built from 2017 to 2024 by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, and in Changshu, China. Gas engines were a 1.5-liter Ingenium three and a 2.0-liter Ingenium four, with a 9-speed ZF automatic on most versions. Production ended in 2024 as Jaguar moved toward only fully electric cars. EPA lists US model years 2018-2024, including mild hybrid versions.
2018-2020: where the engine complaints sit
The 2018 has 14 complaints: engine (6), fuel or propulsion (2) and gas fuel system (2) lead, with one crash and one injury reported. Two recalls apply. Recall 18V090 swaps out 2.0-liter fuel rails with end caps that can leak; the 10,073 vehicles span five Jaguar models, the E-Pace among them. Recall 18V140 fixes front brake hose brackets that may let the hoses rub, on 41 vehicles.
The 2019 (6 complaints) and 2020 (4 complaints, 3 on the engine) have no recalls listed.
2021-2024: air bags and brake warnings
Owners have filed 3 complaints on these years, one each for 2021, 2022 and 2024. Those SUVs are younger, which gives owners fewer years to file. The recalls tell more:
- 24V278 (2021-2023, 2,409 vehicles) and 25V466 (2021-2024, 1,436 vehicles): the passenger air bag may tear during deployment. Dealers replace the module.
- 24V201 (2021-2024, 2,842 vehicles): the brake pad wear light may not come on. Dealers update software.
- 26V248 and 26V599: DC/DC converter software updates. Their 170,169 and 23,677 vehicles are whole-campaign counts that cover many Land Rover models.

Fix it, or sell it as is?
The air bag recalls are free at a dealer, so run the VIN at NHTSA before anything else. The open recall guide explains selling with one still open. For an engine problem on a 2018-2020, weigh a written repair estimate against the going price of a running E-Pace from that year. The blown engine guide covers that call.
Getting it picked up
Call (877) 421-6008 or ask online. Share the VIN, the mileage and the symptoms, and describe where the SUV sits. Keep the car complete. The driver picking up your E-Pace needs its title and your ID. Plate rules vary by state; see after you sell.
Questions people ask
- Is my E-Pace in the passenger air bag recall?
- Check the VIN. Recall 24V278 covers 2021-2023 E-Paces and recall 25V466 covers 2021-2024 E-Paces, both for a passenger air bag that may tear when it deploys. Dealers replace the module free. Look it up at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
- Which E-Pace year has the most complaints?
- The 2018, first E-Pace year in EPA data, holds 14 of 27 in NHTSA's records pulled October 10, 2026, and six of those name the engine. The newest E-Pace model years haven't been on the road long, so their owners have filed fewer reports so far.
- Will you buy an E-Pace that won't start?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, with free pickup anywhere in the US. Give us the location and say if it can roll in Neutral.
