Known problems on the UX
The UX has had one generation so far. Wikipedia dates production from December 2018 at Toyota Motor Kyushu's Miyawaka plant, on the TNGA GA-C platform shared with the Toyota C-HR and Corolla Cross. EPA lists the UX 200, the UX 250h and, more recently, the UX 300h.
The gas UX 200 pairs a 2.0-liter M20A-FKS four with a CVT that includes a real, physical first gear. The UX 250h/260h pairs a 2.0-liter M20A-FXS with an eCVT and a 1.4 kWh nickel-metal hydride battery.
2019: brakes and a fuel pump
Recall 19V544 called in certain 2019 UX 250h models to have the brake booster pump inspected, and replaced if needed. The campaign's 6,925 vehicles also include LS, LC, ES, Prius, RAV4 and Corolla hybrids, so they aren't all UXs. Recall 20V682 replaced fuel pump assemblies across a long list of Toyota and Lexus models. Its 1,525,742-vehicle count is for the whole campaign.
Service brakes are also the top component across all UX complaints, with 5.
2025: the UX 300h recalls
Recall 24V587 is a UX one: 141 UX 300h cars with a defect in certain wires in the engine room harness that supply power to the motor generator control unit. Dealers replace the harness free, and owner letters went out December 6, 2024. Recall 26V341 covers a combination meter that may fail on the 2025 UX Hybrid and on some GX, Mirai and Land Cruiser Hybrid models; its 81,893 vehicles span all of them. The fix is a free over-the-air software update.
Worth fixing?

- Say where the UX sits now, and if its wheels turn and the steering moves.
- Leave the car whole, hybrid battery and wheels included.
- At loading, the driver collects the UX's title and keys and checks your ID. Plate and insurance rules differ by state; after you sell lists them.
