Selling a wrecked or dead Mercedes-Benz EQE
Brakes, not the battery, lead the EQE's complaint file. EQE owners sent NHTSA 51 complaints through October 10, 2026. The service brakes come up in 11, and the electrical system in 10. Eight of the 51 report a crash.

A crashed or dead EQE is still a whole car with a large battery in it. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and you sell the whole car as it sits. Pickup is free anywhere in the US.
The EQE in short
Wikipedia calls it a battery electric executive car, built since 2022 in Bremen and in Beijing on the Mercedes EVA platform. The sedan's pack is 90.6 kWh, rated at 285 to 410 miles on the WLTP cycle. EPA lists sedan and SUV versions, from the EQE 320 to the AMG EQE. Our photo shows the SUV.
What each model year reported
2023: most of the file
The 2023 holds 32 complaints, with 4 crashes, 1 fire and 2 people injured. The electrical system leads with 8, then the brakes with 6. Eight recall campaigns list this year, and three of them are tiny:
- 23V555000: absorbers in the roof frame may come loose when the window air bags deploy. 10 vehicles.
- 23V853000: a software error can misaim the headlights on EQE 350s with comfort suspension. 10 vehicles.
- 25V150000: rim inserts may come off the wheels while driving. 4 vehicles.
Two bigger ones touch the electrical complaints. 24V115000 replaces the main fuse box on 2023-2024 cars. 25V255000 redoes cars that received the wrong fuse box under that first recall. Both cover many Mercedes models, so their 31,848 and 443 vehicle counts are not EQE counts.
2024: 14 complaints
Brakes lead with 4, then wheels with 2. Three of the 14 report a crash. Recall 24V372000 updates the battery management software on 2023-2025 cars. Its 14,912 vehicles include EQS models.
2025-2026: 5 complaints so far
Recall 25V533000 says the steering coupling bolt may not have been tightened properly on some EQE and GLC vehicles; 3,749 vehicles. Recall 25V366000 fixes the software for the low-speed pedestrian warning sound, a campaign of 94 that also covers the S-Class and EQS. Cars this fresh have barely started their time on the road, so a short list here is no verdict.
Complaints and recalls by model year
| Model year | Complaints | Crashes reported | Recall campaigns |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 32 | 4 | 8 |
| 2024 | 14 | 3 | 4 |
| 2025 | 4 | 0 | 3 |
| 2026 | 1 | 1 | 0 |
Fix it or let it go?
Run the VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup first. Every recall above is repaired free. One of them is a battery management software update.
If a dealer points at the high-voltage pack, read when an EV battery fails. Brake trouble has its own guide, bad brakes. After a crash, the insurer's numbers often decide it; see wrecked or totaled.
Selling the whole EQE
- Gather the VIN, mileage, and what happened: crash, warning lights, or no power.
- Get an offer online, or call (877) 421-6008.
- Tell us where the EQE sits and whether it can be pushed. Mention deployed air bags or a hit to the pack.
- Don't pull the wheels or the charging gear. Missing parts change the offer.
- The driver will need to see your title and a photo ID. After you sell covers plates by state.
