Selling an old or broken Genesis G90
The 2023 G90 has six recall campaigns and five owner complaints. Older G90s show the reverse pattern. Of 69 complaints in NHTSA's file (counted October 10, 2026), 41 belong to the 2017 and 2018, and neither year has more than four recalls.

Two generations
Wikipedia lists the G90 as a full-size luxury sedan that followed the Hyundai Equus. Genesis sold 52,417 of them between November 2015 and October 2018.
- First generation (HI): built November 2015 to 2021 in Ulsan on the M2 platform, related to the G80. The G90 used a 3.3-liter turbo V6, a 3.8-liter V6 or a 5.0-liter V8, each paired with an 8-speed automatic. Recall 24V191 lists 3.3 turbo G90s through the 2022 model year.
- Second generation (RS4): built since December 2021 on the M3 platform, with a 3.5-liter turbo V6 or a 3.5-liter turbo V6 with an electric supercharger.
Recalls by generation
First generation. Two recalls cover turbo oil leaks on 3.3 turbo cars: 19V538 (2017-2018, a loose seal on the turbo oil supply pipe) and 24V191 (2017-2022, a left turbo oil feed pipe that may deteriorate). 24V107 (2017-2019) is the starter: moisture in the solenoid can short it, so the recall says to park outdoors until a dealer adds a relay kit. That campaign's 90,907 vehicles include the G80, G70 and older Hyundai Genesis. 18V305 replaced glass fitted with the wrong primer on 37 G80s and G90s. If the turbo is what's failing, see failed turbo.
Second generation. Two recalls are G90-only. 23V210 (2023, 575 vehicles) warns that a G90's seat belt pretensioners can burst apart when they go off in a crash. Under 25V833 (2023-2026, 483 vehicles), the Highway Drive Assist corner radar may falsely detect another vehicle and brake suddenly. Two more are bigger campaigns: seat belt anchors that may detach (26V218, whose 294,448 vehicles also include Hyundai Ioniq 6, Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid models) and a fuel pipe joint that may leak (26V229, 2023-2025). On the 2022-2023 G90, 24V282 covers the fuel pump. On 2023-2025 cars, 25V474 brings new instrument panel software.
G90 complaints and recalls by model year
NHTSA complaint file, October 10, 2026. A campaign can cover several years, so recalls don't add up to 10. The 2023-2025 rows are young cars whose counts are still growing.

Repair or sell?
Run the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls first; open recall work is free at a dealer. On an older first-generation car with a big quote, weigh the repair against what a running G90 of the same year brings. Old or high mileage covers that call.
Selling the G90 whole
- Note the VIN, miles, engine and the problem.
- Get an offer online or call (877) 421-6008.
- Say if your G90 rolls and how it's parked. A long sedan wedged in tight only needs the right truck.
- Leave it complete, wheels and all.
- Hand the title over at pickup, along with a photo ID.
Questions people ask
- Why does the 2023 G90 have more recalls than complaints?
- Six recall campaigns cover the 2023, and owners have filed five complaints on it. Genesis issues the recalls while G90 owners file the complaints, and a newer G90 has had only a short while for owners to report anything.
- Which G90 recall involves sudden braking?
- Recall 25V833 covers 2023-2026 G90s. The Highway Drive Assist corner radar may falsely detect another vehicle and brake suddenly. Owners are told not to use Highway Drive Assist until dealers replace the front bumper beam.
- Can I sell a G90 that has sat for years?
- Yes. We buy whole non-running and junk cars, and pickup is free anywhere in the US. You sell the whole car as it sits, flat tires and all.
